11/30 Thirty Thankful Days

11/30 of Thirty Thankful Days!

November 11

Today I wanted to say how thankful I am for good, loving parents, who try to do right and still care for the future of this country and their own childrens' futures. Since we live in a married student ward and not really a family ward, there are only about a handful of couples who actually have small children, us included. No young women/men.. and the nursery and primary are bunched into one (I'm not even sure we have primary aged children). But we had a primary program today regardless, and the parents got to go up with their kids and introduce them, and then since the theme was "Choose the Right" they got to explain how their child chooses the right at home.  I'm glad even though Lydia's only 16 months we got to participate.

It is wonderful to know that there are other parents out there striving to live the gospel and teaching it to their children. It is even more wonderful when children are receptive (which almost all are!) to the goodness of the gospel and are not forced to do good, but want to do it because they want to make others happy. They are usually that way because they look to their parents for their good example. We can learn so much from our children. A lot of things mentioned from different parents were: How children are happy, loving, kind, forgiving, quick to say I'm sorry and to make people feel better, and just so full of the Spirit. It is no wonder the Lord says we must be like little children to enter the kingdom of Heaven. They are the very example of who we need to be like! Children are Christlike. I think the more we focus on trying to glean the characteristics of our loving children, the more we will feel and act like Christ. I'm thankful that there are so many wonderful parents who are good examples and teach their children to be like Jesus Christ. Thank you, parents!! The rising generation needs you!

To express gratitude is gracious and honorable, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live with gratitude ever in our hearts is to touch heaven. - President Monson
